Wanda’s Relish

22 green tomatoes
3 medium onions
1 large stalk celery
2 or 3 sweet hot peppers
1 2/3 cup white sugar
1 3/4 cup white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
3 Tablespoons salt

Wash and trim all vegetables; peel onions. Put all ingredients through medium blade of food grinder; drain liquid. Bring sugar and remaining ingredients to a boil. Add vegetables, simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Continue simmering while filling one hot, sterilized jar at a time. Fill jars 1/4-inch from top; be sure vinegar covers vegetables! Seal each jar at once. Makes 5 to 6 pints. Add more vinegar to each jar, if needed.
