Turkey Garden Burgers
The worrisome part of grilling turkey burgers is potential for drying them out. Start with a plumped up raw mix and that is unlikely.
1 pound ground turkey meat
1/4 cup finely minced shredded carrots
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash (any type)
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
In a large bowl, toss turkey with remaining ingredients. Make four patties.
Grill on high heat for a few minutes and then turn over and grill over lower or indirect heat, until done, on an outdoor grill. Basting with additional barbecue sauce, every once in awhile, turning only once.
Garnish with slices of onion, stone ground mustard, and tomato.
Can be served on whole-wheat hamburger buns (recipe is in my Best of BetterBaking.com cookbook or at the website), tomato slices, and onion and melted Brie.
Patties can be frozen, uncooked.
