Rubbed Garlic Bread
1 long loaf Italian or French bread
1 large garlic clove, peeled
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
- With a sharp bread knife cut the bread open, lengthwise, and put on a baking sheet.
- Under a preheated broiler, toast the bread, cut sides up for 2 minutes or until golden brown.
- Rub the garlic clove over the toasted surface of the bread, and spread it with the butter. Sprinkle with salt and close the loaf. Cut the bread crosswise into 1-inch slices and serve while still warm.
