Red Bean Paste Buns

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup red bean paste
  • 2 sheet plastic wrap
  • vegetable/peanut oil



  1. In a bowl, mix eggs and water well, add sifted flour and mix into a paste. Divide red bean paste into two portions
  2. Heat the wok then turn the heat to low; grease the wok with oil. pour one half of the flour mixture into the wok; rotate the wok (swirl) to form a thin sheet; remove
  3. Place one half of the red bean paste on a plastic wrap the press it into square. Place the square of red bean paste in center of the flour sheet; remove the plastic wrap
  4. Fold the sides of the sheet to the center. Spread a little flour mixture on top of the sheet, then fold the other two sides toward the center to form a square shape
  5. Add 3 tbsps oil from the edge of the wok; fry the square cake until both sides are golden brown
  6. Rotate the wak during frying to prevent burning. Remove and drain. Repeat this procedure for the other portion. Cut the cakes into pieces; serve.


The red bean paste can be substituded with date paste, or lotus root paste
