Pizza Loaf


  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed and let rise
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 (8-oz) can pizza sauce
  • 1/4 lb cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 Tbsp margarine, melted

Prepare filling:

  1. Cook pork with mushrooms, onion, salt & pepper in a skillet till pork is no longer pink.Drain fat and stir in pizza sauce
  2. Bring to boil, lower heat and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally; cool
  3. Punch down dough and roll out on a floured board into a 12×15 inch rectangle. Lift dough onto a large greased cookie sheet.Spoon meat filling down center 1/3 of dough.Sprinkle with cheese
  4. Make diagonal cuts in dough 1-1/2 inches apart, down each side, cutting to within 1/2 inch of filling
  5. Crisscross strips of dough over filling, pressing down and sealing with a drop of water
  6. Brush top of loaf with melted butter
  7. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until golden. Cut in thick slices
