Paper Bag Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Bottom crust in 9″ pie pan
  • 8 med. apples, peel, core, slice
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. nutmeg
  • 2 T. lemon juice
  1. Mix sugar, flour & spices. Mix this in with apples
  2. Place apples in pie shell. Sprinkle lemon juice over top

Top crumb crust:

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  1. Mix sugar & flour, cut in butter
  2. Sprinkle over pie
  3. Slide pie into a large, heavy, brown, supermarket paper bag
  4. Fold ends over twice & fasten with paper clips. Place on a baking/cookie sheet
  5. Bake @ 425°, 1 hour
  6. Remove from oven, split bag open.
  7. Cool pie on wire rack.

Note: Do not open bag while baking!!! In otherwords-don’t peek!!
