Orange Nut Bread
4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 1/4 cups sugar
4 teaspoons Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups nuts
1 1/4 cups orange peel, cut fine
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
4 tablespoons shortening, melted
In a large mixing bowl sift together the flour, sugar, Clabber Girl Baking Powder and salt. Add nuts and orange peel; set aside. In another mixing bowl beat eggs; add the milk and melted shortening. Carefully combine flour mixture with egg mixture. Turn into a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
