2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 t. baking soda dissolved in 1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1-1 lb. pkg. candy orange slices
1-1 lb. pkg. dates, chopped fine
1 c. coconut
1 c. pecans, chopped
Cream sugar and shortening; beat in eggs, one at a time. Add flour, buttermilk with baking soda. Stir in candy orange slices, dates and pecans. Bake in a greased pan-no flour-at 325 degrees for 1 hr. 20 min. I’m not sure what kind of pan- 9 x 13 or a bundt pan.
1 small can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 t. vanilla
2 c. sifted powdered sugar
Mix together and pour cake while it is still warm.
