Mother’s Date Pudding

Ingredients
2 cups brown sugar, packed
3 cups boiling water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
pinch of salt
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup dates, chopped
1 cup nut meats
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions
In a small saucepan, bring brown sugar, water, and 1 tablespoon butter to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour syrup into a 13×9 inch baking dish; set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine remaining butter, sugar, egg, salt, milk, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, cinnamon, dates, nut meats, and flour to make a battr.

Drop by sponfuls into hot syrup. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
