Lemon Sauce

Ingredients
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon corn starch
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
In a saucepan stir together sugar and cornstarch. Add water gradually. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil 2 minutes and remove from heat. Add butter and stir until butter is melted. Add lemon juice and nutmeg.

Serve over gingerbread, pound cake, or steamed or baked puddings.
