Jam Cake

Ingredients

Makes 2 cakes( bundts)
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 half cup brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
8 egg yolks
4 cups plain flour
1 tbls. cinnamon
1 tsp. clove
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
8 egg whites (beaten stiff)
1 box raisins
1 cup nuts or more
1 qt. jam (4 cups)
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. soda

Instructions

Cream butter until fluffy, add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks which have been beaten. Add to sifted flour, cinnamon cloves , nutmeg, salt, , (save some flour to flour raisins and nuts with,). Add to above ingredients. Fold in raisins and nuts, jam, buttermilk, to which the soda has been dissolved in. Fold in egg whites, (which have been beaten stiff,) after the batter has been mixed good.. Bake at 350* approx,. 30 or more minutes,, or until done., (watch after 30 minutes . A bundt usually bakes longer than 30 minutes. (usually an hr. or so I would think) This cake is suppose to be moist.
