Italian Red Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1- 14 oz can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1- 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1- 8 oz can tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 TBS. red wine
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 TBS. chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
  1. Sauté onion in oil in a large skillet. Add whole tomatoes, including juice.
  2. Crush the tomatoes into pieces with a potato masher, then add remaining ingredients, stirring well to blend.
  3. Simmer over low heat for at least half an hour, longer if you have time.
