Hot Water Pie Crust
1/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a small saucepan pour boiling water over the shortening and beat until creamy. Sift in the flour, Clabber Girl Baking Powder and salt; stir together. Form into two balls and chill about 2 hours.
Roll each ball into a 1/8-inch thick round; place in 9-inch pie pans and prepare edges. (Fork Edge, Rope Edge, or pinch edges down onto rim of pie pan.)
For pie shells to be filled later with previously cooked filling, prick with a fork before baking, then bake at 450 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes.
Note: This recipe makes two 9-inch pie crusts.
