Half Moon Cakes


3 cups sifted flour
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla


Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cream shortening and sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla and add to creamed mixture. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Drop by large tablespoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool and spread half with chocolate and half with vanilla frosting.
