Fudgey Pecan Brownies
2/3 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 1/2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/4 cup melted butter or margarine
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
Pecan halves for garnish
In a mixing bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a saucepan, melt chocolate; add butter and blend together. In a separate bowl, combine sugar and eggs. Add the chocolate mixture, beating thoroughly. Stir in the flour mixture, vanilla, and nuts. Pour into greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. Cool slightly. Cut in squares before removing from pan.
Makes 2 dozen brownies.
