Frosted Chocolate Dainties

1/2 cup shortening
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons Rumford Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans

1. Cream shortening and cocoa together, add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy.

2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3. Sift flour, Rumford Baking Powder and salt together three times and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk.

4. Fold in chopped pecans.

5. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet in oval shape.

6. Bake in moderately hot oven (400° F.) 10-12 minutes. Frost with Sour Cream Frosting and top with half a pecan.

Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

Sour Cream Frosting:

1 cup light brown sugar

4 tablespoons sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

1. Combine brown sugar and cream and cook to soft ball stage (238° F).

2. Remove from heat; add vanilla and beat until cool. If frosting hardens too quickly add a little more cream.
