INGREDIENTS:

 

  • 2 cups dried figs
  • 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

STEP BY STEP:

 

  1. Cream one stick butter until fluffy, beat in two eggs and one cup molasses
  2. Add two cups dried figs, 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel, one cup buttermilk, and 1/2 cup walnuts; blend one minute
  3. Add 2 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  4. Blend until incorporated. Pour into a greased/floured 8×4 souffl´┐Ż dish and bake 1 hour at 325 degrees. Garnish with whipped cream.
