Easy Cinnamon Twists
Makes 24 twists
3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 envelope FLEISCHMANN’S RapidRise Yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
Cinnamon Walnut Topping (recipe follows)
Powdered Sugar Glaze (recipe follows)
Combine 2 cups flour, sugar, undissolved yeast and salt in large bowl. Heat water, milk and butter until very warm (120° to 130°F). Add to flour mixture. Stir in eggs and enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Cover; let rest 10 minutes. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
Divide dough in half; roll each half to 16 x 12-inch rectangle. Brush middle-third of dough with melted butter; sprinkle with half of Cinnamon Walnut Filling. Fold one of the remaining dough thirds over filling. Brush folded dough with remaining butter. Sprinkle with remaining Cinnamon Walnut Filling. Cut each into 12 (1-inch) wide strips. Twist twice; tie into a knot. Place on greased baking sheets. Let rise in warm, draft-free place until almost doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until done. Remove from sheets; cool on wire rack. Drizzle with Powdered Sugar Glaze.
Cinnamon Walnut Filling: Combine 2 / 3 cup packed brown sugar, 1 / 4 cup finely chopped walnuts and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon; stir well.
Powdered Sugar Glaze: In small bowl, combine 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted and 1 to 2 tablespoons milk. Stir until smooth.
