Dutch Apple Crumb Pie

Ingredients

  • Pie shell (unbaked)
  • 6 tart apples
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  1. Pare apples & cut into thick slices. Sprinkle with lemon juice
  2. Mix half the sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over apples
  3. Put into unbaked pie shell
  4. Blend flour, salt, remaining sugar and butter into crumbs. Sprinkle over apples
  5. Bake in hot oven, 425°, 10 minutes
  6. Reduce heat to 350° and bake another 35 minutes
  7. Serve with a thin slice of Edam cheese
