Company Stew

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1 (4 1/2-ounce) jar sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or water
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/3 cup water
  • Cooked rice
  1. Combine meat, mushrooms, onion, salt, pepper, soup and wine in an ovenproof glass casserole
  2. Cover and bake at 300, 3 hours. Transfer from oven to stove top
  3. To thicken, mix flour and water and stir into stew
  4. Simmer 5-10 minutes over medium heat
  5. Serve over rice
