Colorado Buttermilk Biscuits
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
6 tablespoons margarine (best if margarine is firm)
3/4 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.
Mix all dry ingredients together well. Cut in margarine till mixture is a coarse, cornmeal texture. Add buttermilk and knead lightly, just until ingredients hold together.
Roll out dough until 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with jelly glass or similar cutter (about 2-inch diameter) and place on cookie sheet.
Bake approximately 11-13 minutes, or till golden brown.
Yields 8-12 biscuits, depending on size.
