Cinnamon Apricot Ring

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 T. granulated sugar
1 T. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk

1 T. melted butter
1/4 cup chopped pecans
3 T. apricot fruitlings
3 T. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1 cup sifted powdered sugar
4-5 tsp. milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. lemon extract

1 tsp. finely chopped pecans
Apricot fruitlings
green maraschino cherries, for leaves
Dried apricot cut to resemble flower for decoration

In mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter. combine egg and milk; add to dry ingredietns. Knead on floured surface for 10-12 strokes. Roll dough into a 15×8 inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Combine pecans, sugar, cinnamon and apricots; sprinkle over dough. roll dough as you would for cinnamon rolls. Place on lightly greased baking sheet in a circle. Cut ring at 1″ intervals 2/3s into ring and lay each slightly on it’s side, as you would for a tea ring.

Bake in 450 degrees oven about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle with icing. when cool, decorate with chopped pecans, fruitlings, green maraschino cherries and dried apricots, if desired.
