Chicken Dressing

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup self-rising corn meal
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 qt. chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. sage
  • 1 tbsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  1. Mix flour and corn meal.
  2. Add 1 egg, buttermilk, and enough water to make medium batter.
  3. Bake at 450° for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Crumble bread; add broth. Let stand for a few minutes.
  5. Add remaining eggs, onion, sage, celery seed & pepper; blend well.
  6. Add enough additional broth or milk to make soft batter.
  7. Place in greased 9×14 inch pan. Bake at 450º until golden brown.
