Cheese Straws

Ingredients

  • 1 C. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 T. shortening
  • 1/2 C. finely grated American cheese
  • 1/3 C. milk
  • paprika
  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Cut in shortening and cheese using knives or a pastry blender until like coarse corn meal.
  3. Add milk and mix well.
  4. Roll dough to about 1/8″ thickness, sprinkle with paprika then cut into strips 3″ long and 1/4″ wide.
  5. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 425° for 8-10 minutes
