Caramel-Apple Crumb Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 9 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup caramel sundae syrup
  1. Fit dough into a 9″ pie plate. Fold edges under; flute. Bake at 375ยบ for 10 minutes. Remove and cool on wire rack.
  2. To prepare filling, melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Add sugar mixture and apples to skillet; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in flour and lemon juice.
  3. Spoon mixture into prepared crust. Pour caramel over top over apple mixture.
  4. To prepare topping, combine 1/4 cup flour, rolled oats. Cut in butter with fork until mixture resembles a crumble. Sprinkle over top of apple mixture.
  5. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
