Brownie Cake

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 sticks of cold butter (cut in small cubes)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 4 tablespoonful ice water (more if needed)
  1. Place flour, sugar and butter in the bowl of food processor. Process 10 seconds or until this is like cornmeal (may be done in a bowl by hand with a pastry blender )
  2. Add the egg yolks through the feeder shoot of the machine quickly, add ice water slowly just till it begins to come together. NOT STICKY
  3. Pour out onto floured board. form into 2 balls, flatten. Roll each out and push into a 2 9 inch tart pans or pie tins. Trim off excess and set aside.
  4. Pour filling into the shells equally. bake 350 for 30-35 minutes.

Filling

  • 1 cup shortening (butter is good)
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  1. Sift flour and cocoa and set aside
  2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add: eggs and vanilla
  3. Stir in flour mixture. Add: chips and nuts
  4. Pour into crust. Bake as directed
