Basic Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine the egg, milk and honey; stir into flour mixture just until combined. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 8-10 times. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter; place 1-inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 425 degrees F. for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
