100% Whole Wheat Waffles
2 cups Hodgson Mill whole wheat flour
1/3 cup brown sugar or turbinado
2 teaspoon Rumford Baking Powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
2 cups buttermilk
Place all dry ingredients (first 5) into mixing bowl, blend well. Add wet ingredients (last 3)and stir with wire wisk or spoon just until they are incorporated. Absolutely excellent whole wheat waffles! My husband loves them with chopped pecans in the batter.
Spray or brush waffle iron with olive oil and bake according to your iron. Or use batter on a griddle for pancakes.
